The brief
A small creative studio makes writing, music, pictures, video and social posts every week, with AI agents doing much of the legwork. Left alone, every agent brings its own tools, its own servers and its own idea of what it’s allowed to do.
What I built
Nightshift, one platform that every agent works through: a shared gateway, five departments of tools, and a control room where a person makes the calls that matter. The agents keep the work moving; the decisions wait for a person.
- One tool endpoint shared by every agent session. Each department starts on first use and sleeps when it’s idle.
- Every call is checked against written rules first, and decisions reserved for a person are refused to agents working on their own.
- Every call is logged, long work runs as queued background jobs, and an autopilot wakes every ten minutes to move pipelines forward, whether or not anyone’s at the desk.

How it works
Nightshift is Python, built as Claude Code plugins behind one MCP gateway. Each department is its own server with its own tests, and the gateway handles the rules, the audit log, the jobs and starting and stopping everything.
What came of it
It runs a real studio’s production every day, and keeps it moving between sessions. It’s the same kind of work I’d do for you: automation that takes on the repetitive work, with a person still holding the decisions.
