The brief

Photographers share looks as presets, but Nikon cameras and Adobe Lightroom speak different formats. Converting between them meant guesswork, or uploading your files to someone’s server.

What I built

A converter between Nikon picture controls (NP3) and Lightroom presets (XMP), in both directions.

  • It runs entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Exact offset mapping for 48 NP3 parameters gives 98%+ conversion fidelity, per the project’s README.
  • One engine, two faces: a web app for most people and a command-line tool for batches.

How it works

The converter is written in Go and compiled to WebAssembly, so the same code runs in the browser and on the command line. Conversions are sub-millisecond, 0.003–0.079 ms per file, per the project’s README.

What came of it

Recipe is live for anyone to use, and the file never leaves the machine.
