The brief

Most photography feedback is either too vague to act on or arrives long after the moment. The best teacher is the one standing next to you, looking at the shot you just took.

What I built

A photography mentor that critiques the shot you took and teaches you the next one.

  • An iPhone app, built in SwiftUI, for feedback where you shoot.
  • A Chrome extension for coaching while you edit at the desk.
  • One shared set of types and utilities behind both, served from a small Workers API.

How it works

The app is Swift 6 with SwiftData; the extension is Svelte 5 on WXT; the backend is Hono on Cloudflare Workers. Marketing renders come from the same codebase through Remotion, so the product and its ads never drift apart.

As for the AI it performs very nicely and gives great insight on my photos.

From an App Store review

What came of it

ShutterCoach is live on the App Store and the Chrome Web Store. It’s free to try for five days, then a one-time $9.99 instead of a subscription. It shipped across two platforms and a backend, with the website and marketing built from the same codebase.

What happens after you email

  1. You email what you need; I reply by email with questions.
